About

Kalaa Karghaa is a considered edit of Indian saris, shaped by one woman's point of view. We do not stock every weave, occasion, or price point. We stock what our founder would wear herself. Every piece in this edit has passed through a single, uncompromising filter, her own eye.

Founder's note:

Most sari brands are stores. They stock, they list, they sell.

Kalaa Karghaa began differently with a personal frustration. A love for saris, and the feeling that most of the market was speaking to someone else. Too much choice. Too little point of view.

I do not begin with what is expected to sell. I begin with a simpler question: would I wear this myself?

That question has eliminated many pieces. It has also led me to every sari in this edit.

The woman I buy for is not looking for a catalogue. She knows her taste. She reads the weave, notices the drape, wants to understand why a piece is worth her attention. She has simply not been able to find a brand that shares her standard.

Kalaa Karghaa exists for her.

FAQs

What is Kalaa Karghaa?

Kalaa Karghaa is a curated edit of distinctive Indian saris, selected through one uncompromising point of view. The brand does not stock for volume or variety. Every piece is chosen because the founder would wear it herself.

How does it work?

Every piece enters the edit through a single filter, the founder's own eye. If she would not wear it herself, it does not belong here. There is no committee, no trend report, no commercial brief. Just one clear standard, applied consistently.

What kind of saris does Kalaa Karghaa carry?

The edit favours saris that reward attention, pieces with considered construction, distinctive character, and craft that reveals itself on closer inspection. Weaves, origins, and techniques vary. The standard does not.

Who is the Kalaa Karghaa woman?

She is defined not by age or occasion but by her relationship with craft and identity. She values a sari the way she values any object made with genuine intention. She does not need to be convinced of what is beautiful. She already knows.

Where are the saris sourced from?

Each piece is sourced from weavers and craftspeople across India. The origin, weave, and construction of every piece are documented and shared because provenance is part of what makes a sari worth understanding.
